Turkish Red Lentil Soup
Warm and comforting, with a touch of fresh mint and spice.

This is the recipe we most fell in love with during our short stay in Istanbul - so much so that we have made it over and over until it was very close to what we remembered. I say "close" because nothing can beat those fresh aromatic Turkish spices and the foods that are made with them. But we got very, very close ;)
Traditionally, whenever we ate it, this soup was served with lemon slices on the side. I encourage you to try it both with and without freshly squeezed lemon juice on top - so you can decide for yourself which you love most.
