Southern Flavor Salad

With a couple of unexpected ingredients.

The inspiration for this salad came directly from ingredients that are traditional and easily available in the South: tomatoes, corn, black tea and pecans. Luckily enough, ingredients that grow together also seem to often go well together and our bunch is no exception.

Black tea was used like a spice in this recipe - as it enhances the flavor of tomatoes.

A second surprising ingredient is vanilla extract. Not only does this go extremely well with all the other ingredients, but is also gives the salad a wonderful perfume. Try it! Inhale and take it in before you actually take a bite. You will be pleasantly surprised.

3 different colors of bell peppers added to the vibrant look of this recipe and so did the fact that we used red and brown tomatoes. This last step is optional, however we thoroughly enjoyed the final result and recommend it.

Since tomatoes have a tendency to leave a lot of juice, the dressing was kept to a minimum and this worked beautifully for this particular salad.

If you end up making this, I'd love to know your thoughts.
