Rwandese Fried Beans

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

An intriguing alternative to regular stewed beans.

Beans are a protein rich food, that can be the starting point for a complete meal - when coupled with a sufficient amount of vegetables.

And who better to teach us about cooking with beans than the country who eats the highest per capita amount of beans in the world, Rwanda?

Interestingly enough, while a lot of other countries use a tomato based sauce in which they cook the beans, the Rwandese way of cooking uses a red pepper sauce. Intriguing? Oh, yes! And also delicious!
