Toasted spices, hot milk and black tea make for this soothing winter night treat.
While "chai" would refer to plain tea in India, "masala chai" stands for this fancier variation. In case my description did not make it clear how much I like this this tea: this is one of those things that you have to try at least once in your life (before you get hooked and have over and over again).
While traditionally this chai would be sweetened, I find the milk and the spice combination give it enough sweetness and flavor and encourage you to consider tasting your tea before adding any sweetener.
